Three are pregnant. Two are minors, held in a room cut off from the rest of the prisoners.

The women’s cases are extremely serious in both humanitarian and medical terms, the office says. Beyond the pregnant women, a number have serious illnesses. One has a disability. Another, an elderly woman, has Alzheimer’s disease.

Inside Damon, harsh confinement comes with medical neglect, starvation, and repeated crackdowns. The women are denied basic rights and the right to worship. They live in isolation and under restrictions.

Pregnant and detained

The three pregnant women held in Damon face harsh conditions and medical neglect, and are denied the health care that pregnancy demands.

Dana Enad Joudeh, 35, from Nablus, is six months pregnant. She has been held since April 19, 2026, and the occupation has placed her under administrative detention for six months. Manar Ibrahim Karaja, 28, from Ramallah, is also six months pregnant. In custody since April 30, 2026, she remains in pretrial detention.

Baraa Bassam Husni Abu Khadija, from Tulkarm, is four months pregnant and has been held since August 26, 2026. The office says she is being subjected to deliberate medical neglect.

There are serious fears for the women’s health and for their unborn children: pregnancy calls for regular medical follow-up, health care, and a proper diet.

Medical neglect

A number of women in Damon are seriously ill and don’t get adequate medical care. Fidaa Assaf and Suhair Zaaqiq have cancer. Abeer Odeh has complex diseases of the digestive system. The office says the sick women face harsh health conditions and medical neglect, with no proper care.

That neglect deepens their suffering and raises the risk that their health will worsen.

Disability and old age

Some of the women need special health and humanitarian care because of their condition or age. Firdaws Tanatra has a disability. Salwa Ghawada, an elderly prisoner, has Alzheimer’s disease.

Tanatra and Ghawada remain in detention, where harsh conditions make it harder to meet their special needs.

Two minors held in isolation

The occupation holds two minors, Ola Qteishat and Nada Bani Odeh, in a room isolated from the other women prisoners.

Isolation makes their detention far heavier to bear. It cuts them off from the support girls need in circumstances like these. And it adds to the psychological and social strain that comes with arrest and isolation.

Where the burden falls hardest

Detention is only part of what the women in Damon endure. The burden falls hardest on the most vulnerable: the pregnant, the sick, the minors, the elderly, and women with disabilities. These women need double the care and protection.

A call for urgent action

The office holds the occupation authorities responsible for the safety of Palestinian women prisoners, especially the pregnant and the sick. That responsibility extends to the minors, the elderly, and women with disabilities.

It calls on international rights groups and humanitarian organizations to act urgently, follow the women’s cases, and make sure they get the health care and protection they need.

Three women in Damon are carrying unborn children, others are seriously ill, two minors are held in isolation, one woman has a disability, and an elderly woman has Alzheimer’s.

The harsh conditions continue, leaving the women more vulnerable and making urgent action by rights groups all the more pressing.

Three pregnant women, two minors among about 90 Palestinian women prisoners in Damon The prisoners, among them sick women and an elderly woman with special health needs, face medical neglect, starvation, and crackdowns, and are held in isolation.
