Iyad Barakat Odeh, 15, was in the tenth grade when occupation forces arrested him on January 15, 2026. The arrest took his schooling and his childhood in a single stroke. He has spent close to eight months in administrative detention. The current order against him runs out in October. Nobody in the family knows whether it will be the last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Occupation forces arrested his brother Mohammed Barakat Odeh, 19, at his workplace on July 22, 2026. The family says no reason was given. Mohammed is still held at the Moskobiya interrogation center, though the occupation has already issued a six-month administrative detention order against him. The family is waiting for an appeal hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohammed has been in pain for years from an injury he suffered when occupation forces raided the family home and arrested his sister Tasneem. The pain has never let up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this house the waiting splits three ways: a son under interrogation, a detention order about to expire, and a grave with nobody in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tasneem Odeh, 23, spent 17 months in occupation prisons. At Damon she was held in isolation, abused and starved along with the other women prisoners. She came out, went back to her studies, and finished a law degree. She dedicated it to her mother and to her martyred father, the man she never got to bury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Withholding the bodies of martyrs strips families of the simplest things they are owed: a last look, a funeral, and a grave to pray over. Punishment here does not end with death. It follows both the martyr and his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today there is no news of Iyad or Mohammed. No word either on where Barakat’s body is being kept. Mohammed faces administrative detention after a harsh interrogation at the Moskobiya; Iyad is spending his childhood in the minors section at Megiddo prison. The family still does not know when it will bury Barakat, or where.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What Umm Mohammed has left is patience. She keeps the pain to herself and turns it into prayer.
