Israeli military interrogators withheld food from Palestinian prisoners for a week or more to force confessions out of them, then moved them to Nafha prison, the Prisoners’ Media Office says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Denying prisoners food during interrogation is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. It is cruel and inhuman treatment, banned under international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Conditions at Nafha are harsh. The prison administration restricts religious practice, limits time in the exercise yard, and imposes collective punishment on the entire prison population, including systematic starvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scabies and allergies are spreading through the prison. Prisoners go without medical care, and hygiene is poor. The food they are given is bad, and shared razors raise the risk of transmitting disease. Their health keeps getting worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Repression units storm the wings again and again, attacking prisoners with gas and batons. The office calls it part of a sustained policy of abuse that reaches into every aspect of their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
